Frequently asked questions regarding our castle towerhouse rental.
Are we hiring the whole castle?
You are hiring the Towerhouse side of castle, we live in the Laird’s house side
How bedrooms does the Towerhouse part of the castle have?
6.
How many people does the towerhouse sleep?
16 max including babies – 12 beds plus 4 sofa beds. The sofa beds are in 3 of 6 bedroom
Bedrooms
Are all bedrooms suitable for everyone?
The Garret, The Knights are not suitable for under 7’s or anyone with mobility issues.
Are all the rooms superkingsize beds?
All bedrooms apart from the Queen Mary can be superking or twin.
The Queen Mary is double 4 poster
How can the Bedrooms be set up?
King James (2) Ensuite – bath, (3/4 floor ( 17 steps) , on the way up to the main/ 1st floor) – Superking or twin (2) , a cot can be put in this room
Wallace Room (4) Ensuite – shower over bath (1st floor) -Twin or Superking , plus 2 sofa beds (the beds are twin or superkingsize on the mezzanine in the room)( 4), a Cot can be put in this room
Queen Mary (2) Ensuite – shower , (1st floor) -Double only Four Poster (1st floor) (2)
Bard’s Room(2) Ensuite – shower over bath, ( 1st floor)- Superking or twin (1st floor) (2) , a cot can be put in this room
Knights room (3) 2nd floor – Superking or twin, plus Sofa bed made up if required( 2nd floor)(3)
Garrett (3) 3rd floor – 3 single or superkingsize plus single day bed made up if required (3) or 2 single and Kingsize sofa bed made up if required(3rd floor/attic) (3)

Bathrooms
Are all the rooms En suite?
The kings room – fully ensuite (wc and sink in closets, the bath in the room)
Wallace – fully ensuite shower over bath
Bard’s Room – fully ensuite shower over bath
Queen Mary – fully ensuite with walk in shower
Knight – sink only

The Towerhouse

it is around the right-hand of the castle. via the 14th century barrel vaulted hall
Is there a games room?
No, we provide board games , there is a pool table as long as it has not been damaged, if it gets damaged it will be removed.
Is there a fire place?
Yes, a box of wood can be supplied on request, any more can be purchased from the estate.
Please do not use wood gathered in the woods as it is not dry and will cause tar build up in the chimney which can result in a chimney fire.
Gardens
Can we use the garden?
Yes it is shared garden with us. There are table and chairs for exclusive use .
Is there a BBQ?
Yes, there is brick BBQ which uses charcoal
Is there a hot tub?
Afraid not
Can we explore the woods?
Yes – if going through farmgate please leave them closed if you find them closed and open if you find them open. Please be respectful to the farmers and other residents on the estate.
Is there a tumble drier?
Afraid not the fire brigade have asked us to remove it as we cannot guarantee that the lint is emptied every day.
Are cleaning products provided?
Yes, they are under the kitchen sink and in each bathroom .
Are wellies provides?
Yes, we have an assortment for wellies though not all sizes.
Are recycling facilities available?
Yes, recycling box paper, plastics can and cartons box, a glass box and a compost bin.
Are linens and towels provided?
Yes linens and a set of towels per occupant are provided.
Pets
Are dogs allowed?
Yes, they are allowed on the ground floor. Please note that the drawing room is on the first floor.
Ground floor consists of utility, main entrance, kitchen and dining room. There is a gate put in place to prevent the dogs going upstairs.
Are any other pets allowed?
Only dogs.
